Barkley's Mouth is all about the NBA as we speak on what's going down in the Association today and what should be happening down the line. It's all about the glory (and disgrace) of the NBA. Our style is down, dirty, honest, and entertaining, just like Charles Barkley himself. Thanks for peeping what we throw down!

And it was really much ado about nothing! I can't believe that Nike and LeBron had video confiscated of this dunk by Jordan Crawford over King James. Maybe it looks nastier on a real camera and not through a cell phone, but still, it's not like Crawford did a tomahawk jam or rammed it home while having his nuts resting on LeBron's face or did a double-clutch dunk or anything. And because the videos were confiscated right away by Nike, the negative press lasted a lot longer as opposed to if they just let it go and have LeBron take his lumps. Besides, LeBron was a victim in the manner in which many players that get dunked on are, he was providing some help defense and on the rotation got caught.
Big deal.
Happens a lot. LeBron and Nike, stop being babies about every little thing because, honestly, image isn't everything. Character counts too and James' was full of himself. OMG, Bron got dunked on! Big whoop... let's consider "the dunk" over, but not the manner in which LeBron puts out and protects his precious image.
Allegedly, TMZ AKA Thirty Mile Zone AKA that celebrity gossip organization AKA that thing that enables you to actually watch your brain cells evaporate right before your eyes has "the dunk". Yes, thanks to Nike and LeBron confiscating tapes of James getting dunked on by Xavier’s Jordan Crawford, a counselor at James' Skills Academy, "the dunk" has now become legendary.
And, allegedly, TMZ will pull the curtain and show The Chosen One getting dunked on by some dude that dunked on LeBron. Seriously, that's how nonchalant the whole thing should have been. LeBron got dunked on... wow... what player hasn't been dunked on? Now, if it was a particularly nasty dunk, granted, there would have been some hype, but nothing near the hype it's already gotten.
So, check out the video that allegedly shows this mysterious and seeming mystical dunk tonight on TMZ the television show OR TMZ the site, where video will be posted at 6:45 PM EST. From the looks of the quality, however, this will probably be like surfing those scrambled porn channels as a kid praying for any sharp picture of either nipple or female down there hair.
Actually, not so much Allen Iverson the player because, really, who cares if a player hogs the ball, doesn't care to pass the rock unless he has to, and makes a big melodramatic fuss about coming off the bench, a role he'd have to accept if he played for the Los Angeles Clippers? Seriously, who cares? Allen Iverson, the tickets sales draw will bring Sterling more money! Wins? Overrated.
According to the LA Times' Lakers Blog, Lamar Odom has contacted Los Angeles Lakers' owner, Dr. Jerry Buss. Earlier this week, the Lakers pulled their offer of three years for $30 million or four years for $36 million from the table thanks to Odom's agent, Jeff Schwartz giving Buss the cold shoulder like Buss was a one-night stand he was trying to avoid. Hey, we've all been there, right?
NBA Quick Hits Because I'm Lazy will be exactly as the title says. I'm not sure why I'd have to spell it out for you because, to me, it would be the same as if you asked me to explain why Jessica Biel is hot as all hell. Duh, common sense, dummy. But, fine... NBA Quick Hits Because I'm Lazy will be a really short blog post containing short paragraphs about a few stories around the NBA that I'm too lazy to go in-depth about. There, I said it!
Richard Jefferson Gets Cold Feet New San Antonio Spurs small forward, Richard Jefferson, was to get married this past weekend, dropping $2 million on his wedding... that never happened. Seems that Jefferson came to his senses that he was still a young professional athlete and could spread a variety of a lot of beef curtains, so why settle for someone he would eventually divorce anyway and lose half his salary? Barkley's Mouth... Where NBA Stereotypes Happen!
Dear Barkley’s Mouth will publish every week and will have real NBA and/or pop culture personalities “write” fake letters to us and we answer. If you’d like to send a fake letter as a real NBA or pop culture personality, we’d be happy to reply. Hit us up at dv AT barkleysmouth.com.
Dear Barkley's Mouth, I did really well my first time out Asa professional at the Las Vegas Summer League - 27 points and 12 rebounds. I know I belong in this league now! What do you think? Blake Griffin
Dear Blake Griffin, Yes, you did well against other rookies and for the most part 11th men on their respective teams. In all seriousness, I do believe you belong in the league, but, three things - 1) It's only the LVSL, so let's see what happens in the fall when the season starts 2) You play for the Los Angeles Clippers and 3) You play for the Los Angeles Clippers. Barkley's Mouth
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know... I'm being really obvious with the title of this post, perhaps even pessimistic, BUT I am a Knicks fan. It pains me to have to write this, but my therapist, Dr. Leo Marvin is on vacation up in New Hampshire. He's going to shoot a segment for "Good Morning America," you know. Anyway, can the Knicks get their ish together? At this point, it doesn't even look like it'll happen if they took baby steps.
For a bit of time now, the New York Knicks have sacrificed putting a winning product on the court anticipating the "down below stiffness" that's also known as the 2010 NBA free agency class. However, recently the NBA released its 2010 salary cap projections and it's looking grim for the Knicks. Many thought, especially the Knicks, the cap would be around $60+ million, but the projections say, "Nope, think $8-10 million less, dummies!"So, basically when you thought you'd have a one-night stand with Megan Fox, instead you get to punch holes with Debra Messing. Still, not anything to throw out of the bed, but nowhere near as hot as Ms. Fox.
Find out which teams are having the best offseason so far…
10. Boston Celtics Added: Rasheed Wallace At age 34, Wallace clearly wants another ring before he retires. And Boston could be the right place to get it. He joins a veteran team that still has a couple more years left in them.
9. Washington Wizards Added: Randy Foye and Mike Miller The Wizards could have kept the No. 5 pick in the draft and selected Ricky Rubio, who likely won’t even play in the NBA for at least two seasons. Instead, they decided to add two veterans to a team that was injured last season and could be contenders in the East this year.
The Portland Trail Blazers have reportedly offered Utah Jazz restricted free agent Paul Millsap a four-year contract worth anywhere between $32-$36 million. The Jazz can match the offer and retain Millsap, but cannot do it without going over the luxury tax, which the Jazz do not want to do. So, how can they re-sign Millsap, not go over the tax, and get Millsap in a Jazz uniform again?
Trade Carlos Boozer and his $12.7 million contract for the upcoming season.
And the Jazz are trying really hard to do that, but need to find willing trade partners, which has actually been discussed with the Chicago Bulls... and the Blazers. It seems that the trade is hung up because the Blazers don't want to trade away Jerryd Bayless, whom the Bulls covet. So, could this Millsap signing be a ploy in order to make the proposed trade happen faster without the Blazers giving up the promising young guard? Could be, but getting back to the title of this post - What if Paul Millsap does join the Trail Blazers?
